Some designs are simply timeless.

You can see it in a well-proportioned automobile, in an iconic piece of industrial design, in the architecture of a Federal-period home. Certain forms transcend their era — not because they followed the fashion of their time, but because they were right in a way that doesn't age.

That quality is what drives the classic reproduction work at StrathamWood Studios.

The range is deliberately broad. At one end, the austere elegance of Shaker furniture — clean lines, honest joinery, nothing superfluous. At the other, the breathtaking complexity of a Goddard-Townsend secretary, with its carved Newport block-front and ball-and-claw feet. Both endure for the same reason: they were made with intention.

Each piece in this collection is either a faithful measured reproduction — built to the original specifications with period-accurate techniques — or a design inspired by a classic form and thoughtfully adapted for the way we live today. Where modern construction methods offer a genuine improvement, they are employed without apology. Where the original demands fidelity, it receives it.

Federal period work, in particular, calls for the refined decorative inlay that defined the style — and this is where Stratham Wood is perhaps best known. Every inlay is executed by hand, and the decorative bandings that grace these pieces are designed and crafted entirely in-house. It is a rare capability, and one that ensures each piece carries a level of detail that simply cannot be replicated by machine.

The result, in either case, is a piece that feels as though it has always belonged exactly where it stands.
